The names are often used interchangeably and incorrectly which is why this Thyme oil is called Marjoram. Thymus mastichina is a relatively safe member of the Thyme family. Not quite as benigh as the linalool chemotype (Thyme Mild Provence) but generally a much better choice for aromatherapy than any of the other Thymes you may encounter. Useful for coughs, colds and upper respiratory problems. Does not have the sedative properties of true Sweet Marjoram.
- Sweet Marjoram, France: This is a true Marjoram Oil, not a misnamed Thyme Oil. As an inhaltive it is more effective for insomnia sufferers than Lavender. Eases feelings of loneliness and rejection. Mixed in a massage blend it is reported to ease muscle tension and reduce inflammation and spasms. Also works as an anaphrodisiac which means it reduces sexual desire.
