- Valerian, France, Nature's tranquilizer. Superbly effective when used to quiet nervous tension, restlessness, insomnia and migrains. Used directly as an inhalative or mix into massage oil, bath water or a diffuser blend. Not a nice smelling oil. Odor is an unpleasant as Valarian capsules. Steam distilled from plant root.
- Vanilla absolute, Madagascar, Intesely fragrant. Used in blends, bath and spray mists, Calms, reduces stress, mood elevating, strong aphrodisiac. Promotes restful sleep. Solvent extracted from cured vanilla beans.
- Vetiver, Haiti, Earthy aroma. As an inhalative it calms the spirit, cools heated emotions and subdues neurotic behavior. Relieves depression. Very useful during times of transition and extreme stress. Increases your ability to withstand stress without becoming ill. In skin creams or oils, it nourishes and moisturizes dry, dehydrated or irrated skin. Steam distilled from washed, chopped, dried and soaked roots.
- Violet Leaf, absolute, Egypt, Primarily a perfume fixative, the strong green leafy aroma of Violet Leaf, while not overly pleasant, is considered helpful in relieving headache, dizziness, insomnia and anger. Solvent extracted from leaves.
- Vitex, Crotia, Considered to be a female hormone regulator. Use in bath or massage blends with Rose and Clary Sage. Steam distilled from bark and branches.
- West Indian Sandalwood, See Amyris
- Blue Yarrow, Hungary, Anti-inflammatant. High azulene content (can be higher that Chamomile) gives properties similar to Chamomile and accounts for Yarrow's historical reputation for helping to heal serious skin conditions. Use as compress for varicose veins, rheumatic pain and neuralgia. Steam distilled from flowers.
- Ylang Ylang, Extra, Comoros, This is arguably the most erotic scent on earth. "Extra" means it is the very best part of the distillation offering unparallel fragrance and intensity. Valued as an aphrodisiac and perfume. Superior anti-depressant, calmative and anxiety reducer. Used primarily as an inhalative. It is said to help lower high blood pressure and reduce tachycardia. When blended into a skin lotion, it will help restore balance to either oily or dry skin. Steam distilled from flowering tops.
